New Golden Mile
With the beautiful Mediterranean coastline on one side and the La Concha mountain range of the other, the New Golden Mile is one of the most popular, up-and-coming residential areas on the Costa del Sol. Inspired by the original Golden Mile – the 6.5 kilometre long avenue that links Puerto Banús and Marbella town – the New Golden Mile is evolving as a luxurious coastal strip east of Estepona. It is conveniently located between Marbella West and Estepona.
Though not as easily defined geographically as the famous palm-fringed avenue lined with luxurious villas, penthouses and resort hotels such as the Marbella Club and Puente Romano, the New Golden Mile focuses above all on Guadalmansa, but also contains the exclusive beachside developments dotted between here and the eastern entrance to Estepona. As well as being so close to some coastlines most visited attractions, the mile itself features some of the best beaches in the region. The beaches are surprisingly quiet, even in the busiest seasons of the year, and you can find an impressive variety of beach bars and restaurants along the promenade.
The New Golden Mile has so many outstanding features of its own. The coastal setting is just as spectacular, with fantastic sea views to Gibraltar, North Africa and along the Spanish shoreline. As with the Golden Mile, here too there is a gentle rise from the beaches along the coastal plain to breathtaking mountain scenery, and this forms the basis for many of the residential areas that front lofty golf courses. In fact, in having golf courses within its midst, New Golden Mile is one step ahead of its predecessor.
